Tips to Make Your Home Appear Bigger

Some simple things you can incorporate into your build and design process to make your home appear bigger.  It starts right at the beginning:

1.      Most important of all – go with a floor plan that incorporates lots of natural light.

2.      Avoid hallways

3.      Use cavity sliders – barn doors look great but take up a lot of wall space as do swing doors.

4.      A TV mounted on the wall – avoids cabinets and frees up more floor space.

5.      Use mirrors – it is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Make your room appear bigger with reflected light.

6.      Choose furniture that is multi-functional.  Stay clear of those large bulky pieces.

7.      Use light and neutral colours to create an illusion of more space.  The current trend is white on white on white, perfect for your backyard build.

8.      Keeps clutter to a minimum – nothing makes a room feel smaller then clutter.
