The story
How this build came together
Jamie and Nichole had a smart strategy for their Tallai acreage: build a secondary dwelling to move into, rent out the primary house, and secure a steady passive income stream.
The site's uneven, sloping terrain threw up some design challenges, especially since the clients needed a garage large enough to house their caravan. Instead of fighting the slope, we followed the natural lay of the land and stepped the footprint. The garage sits on a lower tier, with a nice staircase leading up into the main living area. We also carefully oriented the building to maintain complete privacy between the two homes.
Nichole brought a fantastic eye for interior design to the project, choosing a sophisticated, ultra-contemporary look that coordinates beautifully with the original house. The kitchen is a particular standout, pairing a sleek, minimalist island with soaring ceilings, while the rest of the home opens up cleanly to a large deck looking out over the property.
Today, they've doubled the potential of their land and locked in a second income, all while keeping their caravan safe, secure, and right where it belongs.
